PARCS CANADA

A KIOSK AT THE HEART OF THE VISITOR PATH.

SIGNAGE

Parks Canada operates a historic cruise line on the Lachine Canal which departs from the Atwater Public Market. A series of visual elements brings rhythm to the overall site and entices the visitor to discover the activity. A giant graphic serves as a flagship and raises curiosity. Colorful columns guide the way to the ticket office where the visitor will find information on cruise departures.

The pavilion and ticket office are located near the Canal but out of sight from the main road. Our challenge was to find a way to attract attention and draw people to the site. Taking into account that this is a public site with very little surveillance outside operating hours, we had to choose our materials that could resist graffiti and vandalism.

We decided to work with yellow tone graphics to ensure maximum visibility during all weather conditions. The idea of wrapping the columns leading to the ticket counter turned out to be a good solution to guide people to the ticket counter. We chose aluminum and PVC materials to withstand weather and vandalism which turned out to be a prudent choice considering that, a couple of years later, everything is still in pristine condition.
